My Qualifications and Experience
Aggressive/Reactive
I have years of experience working with all types of reactive/aggressive dogs. Dogs that struggle with people, other dogs, toys, food, etc. and I am completely comfortable and fully able to handle whatever a dog throws at me.
Reactive dogs, characterized by exaggerated responses to certain stimuli, require specialized training approaches to help them overcome their reactivity and build confidence in challenging situations. Whether triggered by other dogs, strangers, or environmental stimuli, reactive behavior can be managed and modified through desensitization exercises, counterconditioning techniques, and controlled exposure to triggers. By gradually acclimating reactive dogs to their triggers in a safe and controlled manner, I work to reshape their responses and promote calmer, adaptive behaviors. Patience, consistency, and a deep understanding of canine body language are essential components of successful training for reactive dogs.
I never judge a dog's character based on their aggression/reactiveness. I understand how and why aggression presents itself in dogs and I am aware of the appropriate ways to respond to it. There is no such thing as a bad dog, just an anxious dog that is doing what they think is necessary to stay safe. I am dedicated to spending countless hours patiently waiting for nervous dogs to feel comfortable approaching me if needed. Despite experiencing bites, snaps, and moments of pain from dogs, I hold no grudges and refuse to give up on them. Over time, I've built successful bonds or found mutual understanding with every dog initially hesitant to trust me.
Special needs
Over the years I have worked with many special needs dogs.
Working with special needs dogs presents unique challenges that demand a tailored approach and heightened sensitivity to their individual requirements. Whether dealing with physical disabilities, cognitive impairments, or emotional trauma, I prioritize creating a supportive and nurturing environment where these dogs can thrive. Training sessions are adapted to accommodate their specific needs and abilities, focusing on building confidence, fostering independence, and enhancing quality of life. With a compassionate and patient approach, I strive to empower special needs dogs to overcome obstacles and live fulfilling lives alongside their devoted owners.
I am willing to handle any challenge a dog may present by drawing from my existing experience or having a willingness to learn.
Average dogs
Training is important for all dogs, whether it be to work through problem behaviors or just to strengthen your bond with your dog.
For the average dog, training generally revolves around instilling basic obedience commands, as well as addressing common behavioral issues like leash pulling, jumping, or excessive barking. With consistent training sessions and gentle training techniques, I strive to foster a strong bond between dog and owner while equipping the dog with the skills needed to thrive in various environments. By tailoring training methods to suit the individual dog's personality and learning style, I ensure that each session is engaging, effective, and rewarding for both dog and owner.
